One step from the moon

We meet at a mini roundabout in Les Menuires at 5.45am and transfer our kit to a 4x4.

The drive to Val Thorens is quite an ascent, but we climb much further past it on black rocky tracks. The vehicle lumbers from side to side and we spot tiny flowers growing out of the rock and areas that we think would be pistes in wintertime.
