I looked out of my window at a couple sitting on a sea wall gazing at each other, toes touching. Definitely in love. This is St-Tropez, I thought. Perfect people leading perfect lives in perfect weather.

My gaze then landed on a mahoosive camera lens a few feet away from the lovers. It was focussing on their shoes. Matching brown loafers!
