We were an improbable gang. There we were the four of us, fresh from the tunnel, the first day of our foodie tour of northern France.

(It has a UNESCO rating for its gastronomy, don’t you know? You probably don’t. Even though it’s the first place us Brits are spat out on French soil, it’s the last place we think of holidaying.)
